SpotHero Works Differently for a Game, a Flight and a Commute

SpotHero covers six kinds of trip, from game day to monthly parking. How to book each one so the best space is waiting at the best price.

Kickoff is at one. The lots around the stadium start filling at ten, and by noon the only open spaces are a twenty-minute walk away at a price nobody posted in advance. Anyone who has done that once knows the feeling. The drive was the easy part.

SpotHero exists for that moment. You pick the garage, the price and the time before you leave, and the space is held for you. The company says it has parked more than 100 million cars across 400-plus cities in the US and Canada.

What most people miss is that the app is built around six very different kinds of trip, and each one rewards booking in a slightly different way. Match the booking to the trip and you get the best spot at the best price.

🅿️ Search your destination and compare garages

Six trips, one app

SpotHero sorts its parking into events and games, airports, travel and hotels, nights and weekends, daily commuting, and monthly spaces. The search works the same way for all six: enter where you are going and when, compare locations, prices and details side by side, then book. The difference is in how far ahead to book and what to look for on the listing.

Every booking comes with a parking pass in the app, and SpotHero’s guarantee says your space is held at the price you paid or you get your money back. Most reservations can be changed or cancelled right up to the start time.

Games and concerts reward the earliest booking

Event parking is where a reservation pays off most, because demand arrives all at once. SpotHero keeps a page for every NFL stadium it covers, from Lambeau Field to Allegiant Stadium, so the nearby garages are one tap away.

Book when you buy the tickets rather than on the morning of the game. The closest garages are the first to go, and a guaranteed space means you drive straight in instead of circling with everyone else. Because most reservations can be cancelled up to the start time, booking early costs nothing if plans change.

Airports work best booked from home

SpotHero lists airport parking by state, airport name and code, from Phoenix Sky Harbor to Chicago O’Hare, so you can compare lots for your departure airport before you pack. The company notes that airport rates and locations change, and suggests booking when you see something you like.

That advice is the whole strategy. Turning up without a booking leaves you with whatever is left. Booking ahead lets you choose between the lots on price and distance, with the pass already on your phone when you pull in.

Nights out, hotel stays and the daily commute

Nights and weekends. Dinner downtown or a show, where the question is less about finding any space and more about finding a sensible one close to the door. Compare two or three garages on the map and pick on walking distance.

Travel and hotels. Hotel parking is rarely the only option near a hotel. A garage around the corner, booked for the length of the stay, can be the better pick, and the app shows both side by side.

Daily commuting. For the days you drive in, the app’s saved favourites and one-tap rebooking turn the same garage into a thirty-second job. SpotHero says you can book ahead or last-minute, and on a commute both have their place.

Monthly spaces for the people who park every day

If you drive to the same place most weekdays, monthly parking changes the maths. SpotHero publishes an average listed monthly price for each city it covers, from Albany to Calgary, so you can see what a monthly space typically costs before you start comparing individual garages.

A monthly space is also the least stressful version of the whole idea. The space is there when you arrive, every day, and there is nothing to book in the morning.

Paying less for the same garage

The savings come from seeing the options before you arrive. A driver who pulls up to the first garage pays whatever the sign says. A driver who searched ten minutes earlier has already compared the garages nearby on price and walking distance, and chosen.

Book as soon as your plans are set, because the best-placed spaces go first and most bookings can be cancelled up to the start time. Save the garages you use most so rebooking takes seconds. And if something goes wrong on the day, SpotHero’s Customer Hero team is available every day from 6am to 11pm Central.

For a game, a flight or a Tuesday in the office, the best parking space is the one you picked before you left home.
